Dear Mr. Carver:

Standards conformance testing in accordance with the JITC Digital Facsimile Conformance Test Plan, dated July 1993, has been completed on your digital facsimile equipment and the following certifications are issued:

The JITC certifies that the Ricoh SFXMV74MS Digital Facsimile, with PROM Version 3.6 installed, conforms to all Type I requirements of Military Standard (MIL-STD) 188-161D, "Interoperability and Performance Standards for Digital Facsimile Equipment".  These Type I requirements include all required transmission, signalling, timing, protocol, and performance requirements of MIL-STD-188-161D. In addition, the Ricoh SFXMV74MS Digital Facsimile conforms to the following optional requirements of MIL-STD-188-161D: operation at 16 kbps, end of transmission signalling, and multi-page operation.

The JITC certifies that the Ricoh SFXMV74MS Digital Facsimile, with PROM Version 3.6 installed, conforms to the Open Circuit Voltage, Terminated Voltage, and Short Circuit Current requirements of MIL-STD-188-114A, "Electrical Characteristics of Digital Interface Circuits." However, the Ricoh SFXMV74MS Digital Facsimile, with PROM Version 3.6 installed, does not comply with the Leakage Current requirements of MIL-STD-188-114A.

In addition, the JITC verifies that the Ricoh SFXMV74MS Digital Facsimile, with PROM Version 3.6 installed, conforms to all Type I requirements of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 5000, "Interoperability of Tactical Digital Facsimile Equipment," with the exception of operation in the Broadcast Uncompressed Mode and the operation of a Loss of Synchronization Circuit. These Type I requirements include all required transmission, signalling, timing, protocol, and performance requirements of NATO STANAG 5000, except operation in the uncompressed mode and the operation of a Loss of Synchronization Circuit. The Ricoh SFXMV74MS Digital Facsimile also conforms to the following optional requirements of NATO STANAG 5000: operation in handshake compressed modes and operation at 4.8 and 9.6 kbps.

The JITC will recommend that the Allied Data Systems Interoperability Agency (ADSIA) of the North Atlantic Military Committee provide a certification that the Ricoh SFXMV74MS Digital Facsimile, with PROM Version 3.6 installed, conforms to the Type I requirements of NATO STANAG 5000 stipulated above.

Inquiries in conjunction with this matter should be directed to Mr. Daniel Gibson, (520) 538-5159 or Mr. James T. Tomko, (520) 538-5008.

Sincerely,

LESLIE F. CLAUDIO
